Guest Editor Guidelines
To enhance the scientific visibility of Scientific Reviews – An International Journal and to provide fresh perspectives on emerging research areas, the journal regularly invites distinguished scholars to serve as Guest Editors for Special Issues. Special Issues aim to highlight cutting-edge developments and encourage focused scholarly discussion on important interdisciplinary themes. These guidelines describe the responsibilities, expectations, and processes involved in managing a Special Issue while ensuring academic quality and editorial integrity.
Researchers with demonstrated expertise and strong academic contributions in a relevant field are welcome to propose Special Issues. Suitable candidates include Editorial Board Members, experienced researchers, reviewers, and subject specialists interested in advancing scholarly dialogue within their discipline. Proposed Special Issue themes should fall within the journal’s scope and address topics of current scientific relevance. Themes should be sufficiently broad to attract high-quality submissions while maintaining a clear thematic focus to ensure coherence of the issue.
Individuals interested in serving as Guest Editors should submit a proposal to the Editorial Office via editor@crcjournals.org. Proposals are evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief in consultation with the Editorial Board, and decisions are typically communicated within two weeks. The proposal should include a current academic CV demonstrating expertise in the proposed field, along with a brief bibliography. Applicants may nominate up to two co-Guest Editors if collaborative editorial management is intended. The proposal should clearly describe the proposed Special Issue theme, expected number of submissions, background and significance of the topic, scope of the issue, relevant keywords, a tentative timeline for manuscript solicitation and peer review completion, and disclosure of any real or perceived conflicts of interest related to invited contributors or research collaborations.
Once a proposal is approved, Guest Editors are expected to actively promote the Special Issue by circulating the Call for Papers within professional networks, academic communities, conferences, and digital platforms. Invitations may also be extended to leading researchers to encourage submission of high-quality manuscripts. The Editorial Office simultaneously supports promotion efforts by disseminating announcements across mailing lists and journal communication channels. Both invited and independently submitted manuscripts are considered for inclusion in the Special Issue.
All manuscripts submitted to Special Issues must meet the same academic and ethical standards required for regular journal submissions. Each manuscript undergoes rigorous peer review to ensure scientific validity and originality. Submissions are initially screened by the Editor-in-Chief, and manuscripts deemed suitable for review are assigned to the Guest Editor, who typically functions as Academic Editor for those submissions. Guest Editors are responsible for selecting qualified reviewers, ensuring objective and constructive evaluations, addressing potential ethical concerns, and making recommendations regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection. Final publication decisions remain under the authority of the Editor-in-Chief to maintain editorial consistency and independence.
To avoid conflicts of interest, manuscripts authored or directly associated with the Guest Editor are managed by independent editors appointed by the journal. Additionally, contributions authored by Guest Editors should not exceed twenty-five percent of the total number of papers in the Special Issue to maintain impartiality and credibility. Manuscripts that fall outside the Special Issue theme but remain within the broader scope of the journal may be recommended for publication in regular issues.
Serving as a Guest Editor offers several professional benefits. Guest Editors gain valuable editorial experience that strengthens academic credentials and enhances professional visibility. Their profiles are displayed on the Special Issue webpage, highlighting their academic contributions and current research activities. Outstanding editorial contributions may lead to invitations to join the journal’s Editorial Board. Guest Editors also receive formal acknowledgment for their editorial work in published issues.
The Editorial Office provides continuous support to Guest Editors throughout the Special Issue process. This includes promoting the issue on journal platforms, distributing Calls for Papers through academic networks, promoting the published issue after release, and providing complimentary PDF copies featuring Guest Editor profiles. Guest Editors are also awarded official certificates recognizing their contributions to the journal’s editorial development.
Researchers interested in proposing or discussing potential Special Issues are encouraged to contact the Editorial Office at editor@crcjournals.org for further information or assistance.
